Naomi Passarelli Director (2nd year)
Hello wonderful Northwood Preschool Community! This is such a wonderful group to be a part of and it is my honor to work at NCP. I have been teaching for close to ten years now in various settings. I’ve taught daycare, elementary, and Montessori as well as been a children’s pastor (basically I really love teaching kids). I also have four boys of my own; ages eight, four, four, and two (yup twins are in there). My philosophy of teaching is focused on making sure children feel loved and cared for and that they feel that learning is fun. I went to undergraduate and graduate school at University of Oregon for teaching (go ducks) and have also attended George Fox Seminary. For fun I love to play music, take hikes, and eat anything yummy! Thank you for having me as a part of the Northwood team!
Rachel Wininger Teacher (4th year)
I am extremely excited to start my fourth year at Northwood. I can't wait to get to know your children and help them blossom academically, socially and spiritually.
I am a native Oregonian and can't imagine calling anywhere else home. When I'm not working I love to explore our beautiful state with my husband Cameron and our three children, Hayden, Annabelle and Nathan. Weekends you will often find us hiking, camping, fishing or visiting the beach. I also like to spend my down time snuggling with my two kitties and reading a good book.
Christian Castro Teaching Aid (1st Year)
I grew up in Los Angeles but in 2009 I moved to Springfield, Oregon to get myself out of a hectic lifestyle and pursue Christ and my life passion of becoming a preschool teacher. Thankfully, by the grace and guidance of God, I achieved my dream in 2016 when I was hired as a teacher assistant at Relief Nursery. My teaching style is a more therapeutic approach that teaches children to communicate effectively in a respectful and loving manner all while soothing child frustrations. I also like to incorporate cultural diversity by teaching children some Spanish and South American culture."
Shelby Hernandez-Copley Lead Teacher (2nd Year)
I am delighted and honored to be teaching my second year at Northwood Christian Preschool. I was born and raised here and attended the University of Oregon, where I earned a degree in Elementary Education. Teaching has always been close to my heart. Participating in a child’s growth spiritually, emotionally and academically is a true joy and I feel blessed to be a part of your child’s day.
I am married to my best friend Joe and we have 4 amazing children, Mckenzie, Mya, Jaxson and Elijah. We love to be outside, watching or playing sports, camping and hiking. In my spare time I own and operate a small wedding rental and décor company, it enables me utilize my creativity and serve our community.
I am looking forward to a fun filled year of growth, learning and adventures with your children.
Lori Schmid Teaching Aid (1st year)
I am extremely excited to be starting my first year at Northwood Christian Preschool. I have been blessed to have spent the last seven years being a stay at home mother. My husband and I have two wonderful daughters, Andelynn and Maison. While staying at home I have had the opportunity to spend much of my time volunteering at my daughters schools, where I found a passion of working with children. In my free time I love doing anything outdoors. We spend much of our summers camping and hiking, or around the campfire in our backyard with family and friends. I am honored to be starting my new adventure at Northwood, and cannot wait to watch your children grow spiritually and academically.
